Zhu necklace strung with jade beads and freshwater pearls. Zhu is also known as 珠 in Chinese, representing the pearl that’s held inside of the dragon's mouth when portrayed in ancient Chinese art. The dragons are often seen travelling through the sky delivering good fortune to all. My inspiration for this necklace comes from the sculptures of dragons I would see growing up. They were commonly carved out of jade while bearing a pearl in their mouth, a beautiful detail that I always loved. The pearl is a symbol of wisdom, spiritual energy and power and the dragon represents prosperity and good luck as well as being a king of the sky and sea. The Zhu necklace represents the dragon and delivers elegance and grace on the wearer. The year of the dragon is especially close to my heart because all Chinese descendants are considered “Heirs of the Dragon”, 龍的傳人。
