Intricately hand-painted and glazed Majolica earthenware crafted by a family-owned business in the colonial highlands of Mexico. Our adorable bowl is the perfect size for storing spare change, jewelry and keys, or serving small items such as nuts, olives, dips, and more. The possibilities are endless. This decorative type of pottery was introduced to Mexico by the Spanish in the early 16th century, and the resulting Majolica style is a mix of indigenous tradition, Spanish influence and local adaptation. The process of creating these pieces is elaborate, and can take days, weeks and even months, depending on the item. Locally sourced clay is shaped on a potters wheel, then hand-painted using a glaze dyed with all-natural pigments.
