The genesis of this work of art can be found in Burgess’ love of early Twentieth Century art and design. His paintings are a meditation on the relationship between painting, architecture, and the essence of painting as an illusion of space. Palm Springs, continues to work as a metaphor for this joyful experience of the built environment, and our desire to shape and reshape our world with color and light.
